Hello fellow MFKers! For a science course Im taking, I was going to do how does supposedly high quality fish food and frozen "live" food effect the growth of a young ranchu compared to one being fed ordinary pellets. I was wondering if two 1.5 in. ranchus could be kept in a 10 gallon aquarium for a few weeks. I realize and understand the 20 gallons rule but it would only be for a few weeks. I just wanted to know if this sounded to cruel, Thanks:)

I think the evaluation of the validity of that experiment is really going to depend on how old you are... If I pulled something like this, my college professors would laugh in my face.

Out of curiosity of personal preferance, what colour do you guys think would look better on a ranchu orange, white or both THANKS

just keep in mind that food its not the only growth factor there is, the genetics, age and the stress will also afect, so i would recomend you to get siblings if posible and to keep them in the same conditions.
the other problem you will be facing will be making sure each fish gets the food you want them to get, belive me it wont be easy keeping them in the same tank.

Be careful with the diet you feed your ranchus. Goldfish will eat almost anything, but due to their large intestinal tract, goldfish need a diet with lots of plant material in it.

My pet store just got a shipment in and he said that the wholesaler got them from a home breeder so I'm pretty sure they're siblings, Thanks a million
