Hello, I don't know if this is the right thread to post this in but my girlfriend has been looking for a ranchu goldfish for a while and I was wondering if any of you know any credible places/people to order one from?

Thanks guys/girls =]

go to ur lfs and see if they got any, if not go online and check it our. I know this website called petzone.com, the place is located in cali, but they will ship, they got some nice fishes there.

Haven't heard anything bad about http://www.goldfishconnection.com/ . I occasionally drool over some of their stock though I'm not a goldfish keeper. They don't have anything for sale now though. I think the auction is like once a month.

Or http://www.raingarden.us/ .
I second Rain garden, and Goldfish connection{Dandy Orandas} The new auction for Goldfish connection should be up by tonight. Another good vendor is Thai-Urboy76. He does not have a website, but can be found on youtube. I have his e-mail and ph. number if you would like. I just got a Ranchu, some Orandas, and a panda telescope from him, an Oranda from Rain garden, and two fish from the last auction on Goldfish connection.

I prefer to go through the LFS. You get to see what you buy in person before you pay. High end fish tend to be more sensitive, not ideal for beginners. I have talked to multiple people who got fish from the LFS that did very well but when they spent the money on some higher end fish things didn't turn out well. Fish that are at your LFS were raised on a farm, shipped to a wholesaler, sat in the wholesaler's tanks, shipped to the LFS, sat in the LFS, and still came out healthy. Fish from high end sources are very well cared for and less forgiving of almost any mistakes.

I talked to one person who was excited about the oranda he bought from one of the previously mentioned sources. Before they even got a chance to ship it to him they had to let him know it died. These are not hardy fish.

You may not get the same show 'quality standards', but you will likely get a healthier, hardier fish if you just let the LFS(s) near you know you would like a ranchu and wait for them to get some in.

Best place to buy is the auction at goldfish connection. I bought a few from him and they were VERY healthy and the owner was very helpful.
