This guy had a pond which he emptied and donated some of the fish to this LFS. Any ideas on what the big solo one is?

Looks to be one of the barred Amphilophus species, they all look very similar, so without a known location point, impossible to tell for me anyway.
There is also the rampant hybridization possibility (especially these days) which blurs the waters even more.

I agree. This one I think there is a very strong possibility of being a hybrid, so leaning more towards that.

Definitely would say hybrid. If those are the fish in his pond, I would guess barred Amph with the last fish in the bottom right pic that is looking at the camera. Seems to have similar lips as the cichlid in question.
Just a guess, obviously.

I wonder if he had a beani in the pond, that fish's finage and face remind me of a beani. Even the color and honey comb pattern.

Ya, he had some other species as well. This fish is pretty big and he has super thick lips. I was thinking maybe a hybridization of
black belt x barred Amphilophus. Interesting choice of fish for a pond though, imo.

Thats a a crazy looking fish looks like amphilophus parachromis hybrid like sagitae or barred midas x dovii
