my friend and i was wondering on the maintainance on the aquarium sealant wise.we both have 240's and he brought up a good question when or how long the silicon seal last on the aquarium.is this something we should be watching out for.and if there are signs of wear and tear, what are they?...if this is another thread asked before.sorry guys.my friend is a member here but hated to post cause some members bash to quick on random questions some people ask.thanks ya'll who answers in good purpose.

A new tank should have at least a decade of life out of the silicone... I've seen tanks a lot older than that still hold water.

Keeping the aquarium not-level will increase pressure on one seam and reduce the life of the silicone though...

My tank lasted over 25 years before the back panel came away at 2am.

Not something i want to repeat so now if i ever run down a tank i re seal it as im paranoid it will happen again.

Annoying isn't it:irked:
I believe on the internet, they are called elitists. People who think they are better than everyone else, know-it-alls, and in general just not helpful to us question askers. A sad and annoying fact of posting stuff on the internet. They're everywhere.:nilly: Just cause a question seems dumb to you, doesn't mean you need to be an *** to the poster:irked: :shakehead. I'm glad you got some good answers:D There are lots of nice helpful people too
