albino sailfin plecos are a popular choice

It's just not worth the risk with any pleco

Even the pleco that people say won't suck might as each pleco is different

Get yourself a UV that will keep the green at bay

Hey most pleco suck IMO, they only eat algae till they realize pellets and meaty foods simply taste better. Pleco just add to the waste production....better be safe the sorry as most plecos don't cost nearly as much as rays.

However take this opportunity to try and fix the algae problem with other methods:

-Are you adding prime or other decholirnator when doing water changes?
-How often are your lights on? How strong?
-Overfeeding?
-More water changes (unless your water changing schedule is good already)
-Invest in a uv sterilizer, a good one.
-Invest in a algae scrapper or make your own. (Youtube it)

Hope this helps!

A uv sterilizer will only help with an algae bloom in the water it will not get rid of algae on glass. There are several types of algae eaters that can help all depend on what type of algae is growing. The best way to help reduce algae growth it to remove phosphates from the water which can be done naturally or with a reactor. Personally I us biological filtration as much as possible vs other options. I would recommend live plants or add a Algae scrubber to your tank so that way you have a specific place to cultivate algae to absorb up the phosphates in the water.
