So as the title states, I obviously do not have a lid over my aquarium and never have. (just wasnt a fan) I have a dual hanging light fixture over my aquarium:

The only fish I have in my 90g is my 9" flowerhorn. I'm using a CFS 500 and a 800gph circulation pump/fan for filteration. Current temp is at 81 degrees F.

- And it started the other day; I have this cloudy slime, like substance only on the top of my water as it sort of sits there. I did everything from higher water changes, and I even raised the outlet nozzle from my filter towards the top more so the water wouldn't sit still and that doesnt even work???.... All water parameters are fine! Besides the slime substance on top my water is CRYSTAL clear!

Anyone have any suggestions?? - Here's some pics of the stuff on top..

It looks like oils which come in slowly from your food. Problem is that you don't seem to have a lot of surface agitation so it doesn't get stirred in to water column so the filters can take it out. A surface skimmer for one of your filters or a increase is surface agitation will clear it out.

I would raise the filter output above the water and see if that helps.

Okay, never thought about that. I do normally feed him foods that float but I make sure he eats it within a few mintues or I remove the food from the tank...
I honestly don't wanna spend any money on a skimmer but my powerhead and the outlet tube of my filter is stirring up the surface water so I dont know how this slime is still possible? -Also, I can take my net and literally scoop up the slime substance and it'll sorta sit in my net which is weird but it looks like water and slimy bubbles when I do.
Its obviously more on the left side (where my water flows are more still) and hardly any on the right side. It really doesnt seem to bother him, I can still play with him and he still looks/feels healthy. He even pops his head outta water when I look down and stare at him so Its not effecting him in anyway.

- I plan to clean my filter today since its been about a month since I last did I maybe this will answer my question?

Update:
As I was just fixing/cleaning my long bubble wall I re-arranged it and set it back down within my driftwood and rocks..., after a few SECONDS the slimy stuff just disappeared?!?! - Anyways I'm happy now :)
