My 20g grow out / hospital is going to be free in a few days once I put my JD back in her tank. What would you guys put in a 20gal?

My girlfriend has wanted a salt water tank for a long time, maybe we could turn it into that.

Also, on a side note, I'm going to be getting a 320gal plywood tank within the next four years, so the Jaguar, when he's larger, will be put in there with some other big cichlids. Meaning the 20gal doesn't need to be a permanent home and I can upgrade it in a few years.

Bump :O

Well a large cichlid can't live in a 20g for a few years until you make your 320g. I recommend you do a planted tank with some dwarf cichlids, cory cats, a schooling tetra, and some bristle nosed plecos.

If you want to do salt you could do a little Nano type reef set up, that would probably look cool and appease your GF (mine wanted the same thing)

I'd go with an umcommonly kept small fish, like a blind cave tetra habitat with lots of caves

Why not keep it as a hospital? Incase anything happens, you won't have to worry.

I see you use it for feeders. Maybe keep it as a feeder quarantine, so if anything does happen, it's not a big loss dumping something in there.

This would be a viable option, especially if you are serious about keeping those large cichlids you speak of.
