Raphael catfish

I know catfish sometimes burrow, but do they COMPLETELY burrow under the gravel? I bought a 4" Raphael catfish yesterday and haven't seen him since I cut my lights out last night. He's not in any of the driftwood, plants, or other decor. Could he be under the gravel?

i have one and he hides under my driftwood and i usually only see him around feeding time and then hes back to hiding

they find all sorts of hides .I had 1 that was missing for weeks

Its day #3 now and still no sign of him, lol!!! Glad 2 hear I'm not the only one who had this problem

when i first got my stripe rapheal, i didnt see him for almost 2 months. then slowly i would see him during feeding time. Now i just about see him daily (around feeding time and just after the lights go out) Give it time. They are known to be hiders

Nothing to worry about. I pretty much forgot I even had mine until I upgraded tanks
