Hey I bought two stripped raphaels the other day from petsmart i think. Theyre about 1.5in long i would say. I've only had them about a week at most and they already look bigger. Just wondering if anyone has a round about growrate on these fish. I know their basic max size so no need to tell me that. I'm feeding them shrimp pellets, red worms, and flakes and theyre eatting well. Any ideas?

slow, lol. IDK about when they're that small, but once they hit a few inches, they grow pretty slowly. Even my mom's that are super fat all the time have only grown like an inch in the months she's had them. I'd say .5" per month if you're lucky.

I'm sure there are others on here that have had more, so don't take that as final.

I have a 1.5" spotted. I have had it for about 9 months. I have never seen it eat and I have never seen it out and about. It may have gained a quarter inch since I got it, but I can't tell.

My 3" striped I have had for about 2 months. This one is willing to leave its cave sometimes and it does come out for food. I have not seen any growth in this one.

They grow really slowly.

And these are couch potatoes. I still have my regrets over the one I bought. Saw it only about five times so far since I bought it two years ago.

Wow, i guess im alittle luckier than you guys cause i see mine every day. I've got a tera cotta pot that they like to hide in and the opening is clearly visable so theyre visable too. I havent seen mine eat either but they do come out around dusk. I also keep my tank very dimly lit so maybe thats why they come out more. I noticed that most fish dont like the awesomely bright lights that people use so that they can see their fish. I mean where could you go underwater in this world and have it that bright. Anywho, thats good that theyre slow going. I dont wanna have to move them anytime soon.

I have 2 4" striped raphs and i have had them for 3 months. The only time i get to see them is a few hours after i have turned the lights off. I come with a flashlight and drop food in for them. Lately i have only been seeing one of them. They some how fit in the wholes in the drift wood and all you see if the tell tale fins sticking out.

I just picked up a large one that someone was getting rid of. He has had it for 3+ years. It's a beauty! Just getting ready to do some research on them.

They are in-active fish and you don't see them often but they make a very good clean-up crew

I hardly see mine but I know they are still around

I have 2 of them

Here is a pic of mine and my Jaguar cat pretending to be driftwood plugs

I love Raphaels I have 6 of them. 3 Spotted, and 3 Striped. I've acquired them at different times over the last year or two. They eat like crazy and get real fat, but they haven't gained a lot of noticeable length. I did meet a person who had a 9" striped, but I don't know how long it took to go it that size. There is one out of my 6 that will eat while the lights are on, and he is obviously the fattest. If I want to see the rest, I just flip the light on in the middle of the night and they're everywhere.
