So first off this isn't my Raphael cat it's a ex-roommates. He moved out recently and left his fish under my care till he can come back in a month for them. Well I recently had the power go out and when it came back on the room heater in the garage never turned back on so the temps dropped dramatically over night. I came out in the next morning to care for everything and noticed his 8 inch Raphael cat sitting upside down in the tank and the water was ice cold. I removed him from the tank and took him inside and added him to my quarantine tank. It's been a day now and he still hasn't gotten any better and can't even swim in a straight line let alone upside right. Atleast to me it seems like he might be having a swim bladder issue. It pains me to see him in this condition since I've known this cat since he was only 3 inches. Is there anything I can do besides what I've done to correct this problem or would this be a wait and see kind of problem?

Sorry to hear that the cold temperature did damage. You did all you could do so wait it out maybe a glimpse of hope for the Raphael.

Yeah I hope the big guy gets better.

Did you acclimate him from one temp to the other?
Sadly I couldn't. He's too big for any of the containers or bags I have and I can't fit the bucket into the 35 gallon. So it was either add him straight in or lower the temp of the tank. I lowered the temp and slowly raised it back up after having him in for an hour or so. Tried to make the transition as easy on him as possible. He atleast survived over night so I still have some hope he will recover but still disheartening to see him have no control of direction or orientation while swimming.

Things happen in life that we can't control you did your best to help the Raphael. Hopefully it pulls through.

Well good news is is it looks like he's going to make a full recovery. Went down stairs to check on him today and he did eat his food last night along with him being able to stay upright finally. So hopefully theses are all good signs that he's on his way back to being healthy again.
