rapid breathing clown

is it common for a clown loach to be breathing very quickly? i have keep an eye on this 2+ in loach and he is eating, temp in tank is 78 to 79 ph is nuetral. all my other fish are doing fine.....no hard breathing. what could be the problem. I just got the loach yesturday..any ideas?

Give him time to settle in. Might just be stressed out, due to his new environment. Some extra aeration is always a good thing. Good luck!
 
Check for nitrite. May just be stressed, but usually they settle in faster than that.
 
what would you guys say is a fair time to wait for him to settle in?
