So I have a Rapids Pro sump running on my 90 gallon FW tank. The rapids pro comes with a protein skimmer, which I havent been running on my tank because its FW and as far as I know, its useless for me. So, in order to increase the water flow over my bio-media, and to avoid the waste of simply running the water through the protein skimmer for no reason, I covered the entrance to the protein skimmer with a thick piece of plastic when I bought it about two months ago. I just noticed, however, that some water must be trickling through, because a hump of garbage has settled in in the bottom of the protein skimmer. So, I removed the plasitc cover and am currently letting the water run through the protein skimmer, which is off. This seriously decreases the flow of water through the biomedia. Any ideas of how I can easily cap-off the protein skimmer? If not, I think Im going to just take the filter apart and cut ot the skimmer, althogh that would be a real pain in the ass, as its all hooked up, and Id have to take it all apart from under the tank.
