  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I am confused... I have known many places that you could easily get them... It is just that well most of use can't house a fish that gets up to 36 inches...

thats funny i went on to make the same post, that Rapps has them. they are two inches, and it would be really fun to have one, but i know I wont be able to house it past overgrowing a 125g

Well I find Emp's are hard to get and just suprised that Rapps has them as he usually specializes in SA and CA's. Particially Madagascan and rift lake but not much. Emp's are amazing fish I wish I could build my 450 right now I would so get a pair.

Eh no matter I just tend to see Boulengerochromis when I am searching for new fish to buy online. (IE Erik Dyke had some the last I looked, though larger and more exspensive.) But yah I can see that they would be harder to find than the more common peacocks/haps.

I have had mine since it was 2 inches 4 or 5 years ago, it is now about 20inches.I raised it in smaller tanks until around the 6inch length, then it lived with a Tanganycan Oreochromis in a 125.The Oreo. was bigger and they both only were fed various pellets but the Emp. did not really grow until after the oreo died for some reason[ maybe age]. Then over time it got to the point where it couldnt turn around in the tank unless from a diagonal position. The Emp now resides in my 180 which was purchased about two years ago.His tankmates are other cichlids from the two lakes including a pair of Champsachromis Caerulius he does not bother the others until feeding time,he then chases all of them away from the pellets. He once splashed the water with his tail to scare away the other fish and caused anice puddle on the floor.I dont think they reach full size in any but the biggest tanks but you can still get a nice size and full color in a good size tank .

That is freakin amazing. That would have been a sight to see. Just imagine this pair of emps. in the wild protecting fry. I wonder how they responded back to the people. Those are just beautiful fish.
