So, we had a rodent visitor last night and the chihuahua pack went to town and scared the little thing into a corner. It ran out and past bf, (all 6'3" and 250 lbs of him) who screamed like a little girl with a husky voice, did a foot dance to avoid said rodent, thereby getting in a lucky kick to the poor thing. Dogs tried a second go, and fearing dog injury, I threw a dog blankie on the rat and grabbed it as the dogs were pouncing, and the thing kinda got a taste of me through the blanket.
My tetanus should be up to date, apparently they don't carry rabies as much as, say a raccoon, but there is this thing called "Rat bite fever" from various strep. bacteria in the thing's mouth. (Bf responded, "So you're going to die? Can you show me how to make that sandwich?" lol!!!! True love... for that sandwich)
Anyway, I'm paranoid now. Has anyone been bitten by a wild rat and actually gotten rat bite fever? I know it's not fatal or anything, but I still don't want it. I tried to clean the wound well, but it still hurts a bit today.
