I friend of mine e-mailed me a couple days ago and said that his grandaughters saltwater fish is dying and asked if I knew what may be the cause. He is not a fish person at all so I asked about the tank size and Specific Gravity, last time water changed. I asked nitirites, nitrates and amonnia. He had no idea. Today he emailed and said it was a local business (Dr's Office) and said they use to have someone that took care of the tank for them and asked if I would go by and take a look at it. It's just a few miles from were I work so I told him I would. He also said they would pay me to maintain it if I would. Anyway I have no idea what the size is. Have no idea if its a reef or fish only. Anyway how does one determine the charge price. Do you charge a rate by the hr or by the tank size. I have thought about going into the tank maintenance business several times. This may be a good little side job. Thanks for any info.
FWIW, I have over 20 years experience keeping FW fish and about 2 or 3 years saltwater and reef. Never maintained anyone elses tanks just always took care of mine.
