I'd have to say 1) Palmas Palmas 2) Teugelsi 3) Weeksii 4) Palmas buettikoferi 5) Palmas Polli. Honorable mentions go to senegalus and mokelembembe. I like all the upper jaws because they are all so different and I like something different in each of them. Especially in my tank my favorites have personality and patters. However I have a retropinnis that has some VERY green pigments on his head that to me something unique. The ones I listed are listed based on their patterns and personalities. I listed palmas palmas first because I have 4 (and another on the way from JA) and every single one has something different about them. One has darker and thicker patterns, one has more green and scattered black patterns, one that has normal black patterns with some awesome green and a very cool looking head, and one that has skinny bars but it VERY dark. I listed teugelsi second because the one I have is very active and is a monster eater and has some pretty good red going on with his dark body and yellowish stomach. I listed weeksii second, because the one I have loves to eat and can take down just about anything. When the lights turn on in the morning and everyone is a little pale he is right there with his bold black patterns. He is a little shy when it comes to making friends and interacting, but when it comes to dinner time he is the poly to watch. I listed buettikoferi 4th, because I have 2 (and another on the way from JA) that are different sizes and have different patterns. One is almost palmas palmas like and has very thin black bars mixed with scattered green over it's almost 12" body. The smaller one is about 7-8" and has a yellowish stomach with very dark/black stripes and a very dark brown body. The smaller one is a little shy, while the bigger one is almost the king of the tank. They are both pretty good eaters. The big one dives into the food while the smaller one eases into it and then gets going after about the first minute or two. I listed Palmas Polli as 5th because I have 2 that came in from the same batch. They act just like brothers fighting here and there and then piling onto each other as if nothing had ever happened. They both look awesome with moderately green heads and dark blueish/black bodies with a little bit of some patterns. They both are awesome eaters and are not surprisingly the fattest of the tank. They both will be the first and last ones eating. They are very active and swim around the tank and will often times start moving and bumping into the others and getting everyone else moving. I had to add senegalus to the list as an honorable mention because of their personality and their activeness. They are by far the most active bichir i've had. I have 3. they are all around 4-6". They are very personable and make great addiction starters. I also had to add mokelembembe to the list because every single one i've had has been small and very shy/quiet. They take a while to start eating, but one they do they are usually not that bad. I have about a 4-5"er that has great patterns, but usually hides. I wouldn't blame him when some of his roommates are much larger than him. I love all my upper jaws, but these ones stand out in general. One thing I love about keeping more of one kind is you get to see the variations side by side. I especially see it with my palmas palmas and how they are all different. Palmas Palmas are a stable 1 for me but anything past that can be moved around.
