I found a bag of cheap, pre-cooked shrimp at the grocery store and purchased them. They don't have preservatives or flavorings. Is this as good as raw? Why or why not?

i would say no cooking shrimp will break down the protein strands and is said to reduce the nutritional value but i've heard conflicting opinions on it

Raw is best. The process of cooking greatly decreases the nutritional value of shrimp.

Guess it depends on how they were cooked...? Like everything else, the cooking process problem leeches nutrients. Up here in the Great White North, we can get non-cooked frozen shrimp in resealable bags. Works great! Too bad the midas, festae and haitiensis don't seem to care for it any more. The red tigers and cubans freak out for it!

Raw is better but some of my fish will only eat it cooked:screwy:

My fish greatly prefure cooked shrimp aswell. I know the nutrition is slightly lower but my fish just freak out for the cooked salad shrimp and just kind of ignore raw.

The cooked shrimp is white and probably catches their eye better. I can always add some vitamins to the shrimp pieces. Unlike other fish foods, if I'm not satisfied with how mu fish like it I can eat the rest of the bag myself.
