if i found someone with a male ray and didnt want to buy it and blah blah blah... could you realistically borrow it to stud my female? both rays are plenty big and have bred with other rays, but realistically any chance you could get them to breed quick? would it be too dangerous to risk moving a big ray 2 times in a short period of time? how long do you think it would take and what can i do to speed it up? ive seen cold "rain" makes them more ready, but do you think a ray can be comfortable enough to breed in a day? a week? a month? i have no idea and this might be a stupid question but i will ask anyways

I moved my male motoro from a tank with him and a pregnant female to another tank with a male and 2 female rays and he went after the females within a couple of days trying to breed with them. The current male in the tank is still immature and had not been bothering the females at all. One female he has especially been going after and the other one a bit. His move was a quick one from one tank to another with the same water parameters. He had never been with the other rays before.

How big of a move is it from your friends tank to yours? Water parameters the same? I'm guessing it all depends on how much the maale being moved gets stressed and how stressed out your female will get suddenly having another ray in the tank. Could also depend on how aggressive the male is when mating too.

Ya I figured there would be a ton of variables. I just didn't know if any breeders would pop in giving a timeframe when they move a ray how long it usually takes. Thanks for the input though

I have read on several occasions of members here having males on loan for studding purposes to local friends.

that gives me hope. i feel it would be a waste to not breed my henlei since she is really impressive black and really white spots and shes like close to 20" across. time to find her a male

I have plans to loan my male marble so we'll see how it goes. At the very least it will give my female a break.
