Ray doesn't dig or cover up ever

Been in the tank for about 2 weeks now. Eats a ton, spends time cruising on top of the sand and still a lot of wall walking but has never, not even once covered itself in sand.

No red blotchy-ness on underbelly so I dont think the sand is an issue, do some rays just not cover them selves or what?
 
Of my 4 rays, only one buries herself on a regular basis. One other does on rare occasion, and the other 2 never do. Depends on the ray I guess.

thats very reassuring. i guess our guy just isn't too shy. he's very active.
 
I think they only do it when stressed

My ray used to cover himself every time I did a water change but he stopped even caring a while ago
 
its a defence mechanism so you'll only see them do it when they are stressed in some way (water changes get my leo burying himself). Def dont worry about it ....only really worry if they go off food/become really unactive
