Hello guys couple of questions. Firstly is that I have a hybrid female ray and when I bought it they didn't know what it was a hybrid of. Anyone got any ideas as to what it could be a mix of? (Pictures below) Second question is there any way of knowing when female rays are sexually mature? Or is it just a case of adding a smaller male and letting the female always be the larger ray and when the male becomes mature he will do his thing?
Thanks

First 2 pictures are most recent. 3rd is when I bought her.

Absolutely beautiful hybrid. There is no one who can say for sure aside from the breeder(s). If I had to guess, I would say there is motoro and henlei in there at a minimum. Likely some other black ray mix as well.

As far as age goes, also no way to tell without the parental lineage. Different species mature at different rates. No for sure way to tell a female is ready that is reliable. Usually 2-3 years in is when they come around. I wait until the first unexpected delivery and then the female goes to the breeding tanks.

PM me if you ever sell her. I’ll put her with a top shelf male and send a couple back ;)

Thabks for the replies guys, so we reckon 2 years minimum? If it's got Henlei and Motoro in it. Roughly wjat size qpuld she be aswell? 18"?

Could go either way but yes two years is minimum with most. Motoro breed at smaller sizes and younger than some other rays. Hen breed much later/larger.

Perfect thanks, I guess I'll let her carry on growing and maybe add a smaller male at some point soon. Any reccomendations of what breed of male might make a nice mix with her? My pearl is also female so something that mixes well with them would be lovely aswell

My personal opinion would be a really good looking henleimale or a p14 male to mix with both your females. But thats just me.
