I got a new ray in on Monday and he's not eating. He's around 10" and goes crazy when I throw in the crawlers. He sucks them under him but only chews them very aggressively but does not swallow them. I've cut them in all sizes for him but he does the same thing. He's getting very skinny HELP please.

The other ray and arow in the tank are doing fine

Thank you

That is weird, but have you tried blackworms or and kind of frozen food? Mine even eat pellets. I would just try a variety of things and see what he goes for. Hope this helps

No but I think it might be a parasite or something because he looks like he is very interested in the worm but just doesnt swallow it. He chews it for about 5 minutes very aggressive at times but then spits it out. If this goes on I will treat with PraziPro tomorrow

Was it a wildcaught ray? What type of ray is it? It could be a hook in it irratating it. I've also had other rays where they would do this and the best thing I've found to do was blackworms. If you can't find any then worms or finely cut shrimp to almost minced.

my rays had parasites b4 and did the same thing.

i would treat w prazi anyway since they r wild.

WOW so if it is a hook will it eventually pass it or what?

I would treat with prazi for atleast 5 weeks! I had 4 wild caught rays come ina ll had parasites I was bummed they are finally doing better and eating strong! I used prazi for 5 weeks treating every 4 days and now im using 3lbs of salt per 100g for another 2 weeks!
