I was looking into purchasing a FWR and was wondering if i was going to have to change the substrate in my tank from gravel to sand. I''m asking because everyone that has rays have sandy bottoms or no substrate at all. If it is necesary to not use gravel why. Thanx in advance for any info. provided.

i thnink that gravel scratches their bellies.
don't quote me on that wait for more of the "Ray Guys" to answer.

You can use gravel , but make sure that the edges are smooth . The jagged ones can injure a rays delicate bottom side. Sand is good because they rays can bury underneath it. And bare is beneficial to keeping the tank clean.
