I have 2 180 gallon tanks that I am currently setting up. I have seen an oscars and rays living harmoniously in tanks that are are a little larger but I was wondering If I these fish would be compadible and if I would be overstocked if I( had 1 oscar, 1 firemouth, one histrix stingray (smaller species), and 4 or 5 silver dollers? All these fish would be living in one tank. I have a 30 gallon sump on there also and I am planning to make it a heavily planted sump to act as a nitrate filter to reduce the nitrates in the water.

If this does not work out plan b is to make the second tank a discus/ray tank even though I would perfer to make it a second cichlid tank.

Thanks alot!

I use live food as treats once a week but thanks for the response

it didn't worked on my part. My oscar was attacking my ray so i have to let him go.

Id say no....Oscars will attack anything anytime....its just the matter of when...If you spend a good bit of money on a ray....why worry bout your O that cost 10 bucks attacking your ray? :screwy:

Id say no on this one.....not worth the worries or trouble down the road...Just my 2 pennies

Thanks, I realize that oscars in general are pretty agressive, right now I have 4 different varients and by lutino red one seem to be much less aggresive than my other ones, hes gets exited when I feed him and all but each of my other O chases one of the convicts or another O at least once every 5 minutes but not him. He is the only one I would trust with a ray though so I understand your concern about the temprament.
