Ray pups?

I agree, that is the best case scenario, having a smaller tank plumbed with the big tank .... I think I may be able to sit the 40 on top of the sump of my big tank (sump is a 125 gallon tank), and have one of those small "portable" overflows, that aren't permanently siliconed to the tank, and have it dump water into the 125, with a small return pump moving water from the 125 back in .... using this method I probably won't need any filtration at all since the big tank would do it all .... I think this is probably what I'll do

I have always set up a seperate tank for pups just before they are born. I use all water from the main tank along with substrate. I always keep some filter sponges in the sump of the main tank and use them in a hob filter for the pup tank.

T1 that looks like a pita to get into. More so when dealing with rays.

Its not to bad to tell the truth as I need to go up 2 steps to feed the main tank I just need to go up 3 steps to feed pups

I have a few small tinfoils in the small tank to clean up food so I just feed pups buffet style

They are ok in the small tank for 4-5 months the most I have had in the small tank was 5 and it was a bit packed

It is 7ft up in the air but if I have no problems with no legs it should be easy for others

I also find the pups don't get spooked as they don't see any traffic apart from feeding time

i run 4x3 tanks underneath main tanks plumbed in the same as the sumps,so just another sump with no media..allways works well for me.
Loving the road signs Rich!:)

T1 that big tank is absolutely stunning, not to mention the occupants! Very nice! I want my final tank to be in the 1200 gallon area .... hopefully a 12x5-6x3-3.5 .... I figure that's the biggest I can go without being completely unrealistic .... how do you heat your tank? And how big are the return pump(s)?

How much room do you have above the tank? It looks close to the roof. It makes sense not to spook the pups.

I return about 15,000 gph

The tank is ver close to the roof at the far end of the tank but the front has about 3ft space

Giles the I have 2 road signs Arowana drive and stingray place N4

Looking at that top tank pic reminds me I need to paint it

Putting a small tank below like ray ray said is the best idea

That is not bad then. The angle of the pic makes it look like you have 6" of space to get at pups.
