RAY STUNG CIHCLA!!!

Home of the brave.
I turned my lights on about 15 min ago and noticed that the tip of my 12 inch male rays stinger was chiped and exposed then I notice that the tail of my 12 inch pbass has a huge black spot on it and in the center is a gash were it clearly struck! :eek:

Its towrds the bottom of the tail right after the muscle connects to the fin.

Is there anything I can do and will my cichla make it???:confused:

Yes it got it on the fin part.
 
not sure But i think vamptrev has had this happen ...The main i would think is to make sure any part of the stinger is not still in the fish other then that the fish is on it's own ...
 
Interesting situation and no offense but I'm kinda surprised the fish is still alive.I don't know too much about rays but I read that the stinger is venomous and is their defense weapon.I've also read that natives who happen get stung experience excruciating pain to the point that they will run head first into a tree to knock themselves unsconcious but I hope your fish pulls through.
 
ya i agree with hulon... or atleast put him in his on tank if you can
 
if its just the fin maybe he will be all right. but really only time will tell. def keep the water clean an temp up to reduce chance of infection.

I have no idea if the pbass is going to live or die, but I do know that being stung hurts like hell! I was stung by a motoro I had about 15 years ago and that is the worst pain I have ever felt and it is a pain that I never want to feel again. It make getting shot with an AK and taking shrapnel pale in comparison.
