Hi all i got home from work to see the underside of my birchir cut open ,i looked at my female ray and noticed her sting is white so its her who as hit him . It look likes the birchir as swam into it as i dont think she would have ment it . Will he heal ok, i know other rays are emune to the poison on the barb but are other fish ? . The ray being 16inch birchir is 11inch thanks

its a case of wait and see sadly. i dont think there is anything you can do to help it.
just do as you normally would keep you water perfect and maybe add a little salt to stop infection.

if its been done a while and the bircher seems fine then i would think he will be fine.
when a ray tags you it starts taking affect pritty quick. took 5 mins to start on me and about 4 or 5 hrs till it started to ease off abit. then a day or 2 for it to totally be back to normal. that was off a 8" ish ray. so i would think a 16" ray would of killed the bircher by now if it was going to happen.

my tor tambroides tagged before near its mouth. the tagged area swollen quite a bit for a week or so.. IMHO just maintained the water para, the birchir should be fine. my tor still alive and kicking..only now he will stay away from those rays...:)

rays are interesting creatures and i've always sort of wanted one. but my biggest concern has always been the welfare of myself and the other creatures in the tank. sorry for your situation . . . i hope it works out for you.

Thanks all i blame this on my arrowana hes always jumping and spooking the rays and other fish below him and making them jump . I need to sell the dAM thing then i can have peice in my tank dam arrowana
