I know it has been asked a thousand times but i have done a search for various tankmates and nothing has come up that i like? Are there any colourful fish that would be ok with my motoro rays and are there any catfish that would be ok? I like the plecs but i think i read somewhere that they latch onto the rays? Thanks in advance for any replies :)

I've never kept it, but I've heard Megalodoras uranoscopus makes a good ray tankmate.

best tank mates for rays are other rays.i have no luck with tank mates.im not a arowana guy but any one that ive ever kept has jumped out .i have a big armatus with my rays now and tinfoil barbs nothing gets along in that tank!

just last week a have a 18" lenticulata pike that got taken down by my rays and chomped up! depends on the rays too i have another tank with a same sized ray that wont kill any fish, shes with small geo and other earth eater type cichlids??

I agree, keep rays with rays, that's about it. Others are exceptions or gambles and rays tend to be species specific.

Arowanas make good tank mates since they mostly stay in the upper third of the tank. You just need to have a secure Lid so they don't jump out. I have a 24" chili red with my Motoros. My female has had pups in the tank and the arowana didn't bother the pups at all.

There is a lot of nice fish to keep with ray : tig , pbass , datnoids , bichirs , discus , silver $ , tinfoil bar

+1 to that..
I have My Tigs with my rays previously..
The only reason i need to seperate them was due to the Tig chomps down the food faster..
MY Dats are also with my rays.. They dont really bother each other..
Along with my Chilli red aro and 5 bichirs.. All is well for the Rays..

My discus are coming out of the tank tomorrow. My little hystrix stopped eating and one of the thoughts was that she was being bullied. I noticed this evening that the largest of my discus came down and poked at her eye after I put food in the tank. Its the ray's tank, not theirs, they are leaving. Will see how it goes after that!

I have a large clown knife, a gar, and a school of tinfoil barbs with my pair of motoros and I've had no issues. I do use a section of PVC piping to feed the rays to ensure they get plenty of food. Catfish may be okay in a large tank but in a smaller tank, they would get in each others way as they are both bottom dwellers.
