What is a good size tank for breeding rays? I have 6 black rays - 2 male 4 female. Looking to set up a tank or tanks for breeding and looking for advice. Should I set up one big tank and put all 6 rays in or 2 trios in smaller tanks.

Suggestions??

What setups are fellow ray keepers using?

One big tank will all the rays will work best, the males will compete with each other for females.

How big you need depends on the size of the rays, in my 6x10 pond my motoros didn't breed to much, only had one litter in about 9 months of them being in there. My motoros are pretty big though, they didn't have that much room to swim in a 6' wide pond. They have been in the 10'x14' for 4 months and currently 2 of the 3 motoros are very pregnant.

Just go with as big a setup as you can fit.

always have two tanks at least,to keep the males in one tank and females in the other! and maybe one for birthing too!!! tank dividers work too. which reminds me i got start building a pond soon

when you are ready to breed put a female in with the males until they need be seperated??
