Hey I am thinking of doing a ray tank in the not so distant future. And I was wondering what the turnover should be if I run a massive sump with loads of bio media. I was wondering if 3times an hour would be good enough or if I need to shoot for higher.

I have a 125gal with a FX5 and a cascade 1500, for a 5'' disk Retic. 600gph.

i dont know how alot of guys do it with such low gph... i keep most of my tanks around 15x per hour, and wish i had more... they eat so dang much:irked:

i have friends running ponds with 2x a hour turn over rate no problems......

When I had my pair of 4" retics in my 55 gallon had the tank turning over around 3-4 times an hour....Nitrate and all other parameters never reached life threatening stats.....But not to mention I did 25%-30% WC daily.

A 24/7 drip is not out of the question. However it may take a little more thinking and money then I am willing to do at this time. But It may just be a next step.
