I'm planning to get 2 rays for my aro as a tank mate. My aro is a 18" red aro. My set up is a 6x2x2' with a 60 gallon sump, water change every day 3-5 gallons. I'm thinking to put a pair of ray, may be 2 dat (wide or indo) in there. Do you think this is overstock and what kind of rays should i get ? thinking to get flower rays.

You should get a pair of leopoldi (maybe p14's) or tiger rays. Pearl rays are awesome too. I don't know if the tigers and pearls will outgrow your tank though. (max size?:nilly::confused:)

I don't think it will be overstocked because you have good filtration and do water changes everyday. Those fish all produce a lot of waste, so you may have to worry about ammonia, especially because you'll have rays.

i wish that i have money for a pair of leo, pearl or tiger rays. The last time i check the price in Aquabid they are like $2000 each from Thai seller :eek:. that's way over my limit.

Have a good look through the threads here and you'll quickly get an idea of what size tank is suitable for rays in the long term ;). Also what species is best to go for. Plenty of research is the key.

Sounds like you're actually changing about 2-3% water per day. That's not going to be enough, especially as you intend to add more large fish. IMO you'd be better off getting used to doing something like 25% once a week initially, then increasing frequency and/or volume as needed, depending on bioload, nitrAte levels, pH stability etc.

Yeah, i also do 25% like once every 2 weeks because i only have 1 aro in that tank.

yeah, motoros will be the last in my list. I have either flower ray or marble in my mind right now, but need to save money first after the holiday.

Does any 1 ever has rays sting your aro before. I know my aro sometime it will have hot temper when it's hungry. I always scare the ray might sting my aro when the aro attack.
