I saw down after work in front of my tank and watched my ray cruise the tank as normal. When he climbed the glass, I noticed that his underside was a reddish pink about 1-2" from the edge of his disk. Is this normal, or is my gravel irritating his bottom? I'm doing my first waterchange tomorrow morning and will remove the gravel if thats whats causing it. If it's normal, than don't mind me. :screwy:

Sounds like it is the gravel is irritating his belly, I would change it.

How big is it, when there pups, they tend to have pinkish bellys.

it still gettting use to your tank... pics could help

thats fine... normal for a new ray

Sounds good. I'm going to remove some gravel anyway. I have 40lbs in a 4x2 and its alot deeper than I expected. I'm going to get it 1/4-1/2" deep and call it a day.

Yeah, thats pretty normal, like Zach said.

No your ray looks fine, but change the gravel for sand if you like as this is what they would prefer.

Carl.

very good chance that the ray is just acclimating itself. I will admit that my motoro was very pink on the bottom when I had my gravel. Now without gravel she seems ok, all white, minimal pink. Give it some time and if it remains then make a decision with the gravel.
