So my mom got a ray, she has plenty of experience but not with rays..... she dripped it before putting it in the tank, it has no tank mates and water parameters are ammonia 0 and nitrite 0.

Substrate is black sand

Its been in the tank for 48 hours and is just wall walking non stop. going all the way up to the lid and down and then back up.

Anything to be concerned about or is it just not adjusted to the tank yet?

What kind of sand is it? Can you see any irritation on the disk? A little bit of pink is fine but nothing red or blotchy looking. Some rays will go up and down the glass more than others.

Is it eating yet? What foods have you tried if not?

Adding to above which are valid points /questions.

I would wait for a little longer and keep the lights off for a few days, they can be active like this and wouldn't worry too much....my Pearl seems to swim at the glass and up the sides quite a lot, the marble never does it.

How large is the tank...can you post up some pics?

Keep testing the water for the first few weeks daily and check the ph too as these thinks can put a strain on the filter whilst it adapts to the large ammonia production.

there is an airstone, unfortunately i dont know what type of sand it is other than it doesnt have silica. light pink belly, i knew not to stress about the pink belly but its not red or blotchy and it ate blood worms not 5 minutes after being introduced to the tank.

Rays are smart many quickly realize people = food so it seems like they're "wall walking" more than they are. I wouldn't worry about it see what happens when he settles in. Especially if he's eating.

I agree as well. I had a motoro do this ALL the TIME! my marbles...eh once in a while. keep an eye on the params and be happy your ray is just very active

Mine flys I'n bubble wall all day and night it turns rlly dark and all it spot rlly stand out I assume it is happy. Probably same as urs or it could be settling in.
