My girlfriend is kinda urging me to pick up a stingray. I have a spare 75g. Am I able to have just 1 ray in there for life? I was reading the post in the ray forum about ray care (12 facts about rays) and it said a 75 is fine but I would like some reassurance before I purchase one and end up regretting it.

You need to first determine what type of ray your going to get. Then we can address what size tank it can stay in for the rest of it's life.

I would say no, rays will grow and depending on the ray you get, can grow up to average 20". A 75 gallon tank will not support a ray for life. If it were me, maybe try to sale your 75 gal and get a larger tank, at least 150gal and go from there..

I guess there lies another question. What kind do you ray keepers recommend? If I have to pay a little more for a stable ray that's fine with me. And I was looking at getting maybe a 150 fatboy.

Even a 125 is not big enough in the end... Their Bioload, and as much as love to swim around... you would need def. more tank space.

this is true and agree..
like I said, at least a 150 and go from there, meaning start maybe with a 150 and build up later...
I have two 150 tanks, and two 250 tanks. Im building two new 400 gal ponds, taking my rays in my 250 tank, putting them in the pond, taking my rays in my 150 tank and putting them in the 250 tanks and then using my 150 for pups I should have in a year or so. that way Ive always got tank to upgrade to...
Its alot to try and get a 400 gal rt off...
Me it was easier to start with 150's and build up over time. But you have to make sure you dedicate to build up.
But the 75, is not a good tank to start with.. Id sale the 75, take that cash and add to it and find a 150 or bigger.. Look on local classified adds for tanks, or like me, I use craigslist alot to find my tanks and always get really cheap..

Bcfd what part of ms do you live in? Close to ia? I try and check local adds but people always overcharge.

you just have to keep your eyes open, be patient, and sometimes be able to travel a little bit to pick up the tank for the right price. if you rush you will end up overpaying for a tank you will need to upgrade soon anyway. take your time and be happy with what you get.

My buddy just sold a 150 fatboy and sump for 300. I wasnt able to nab it due to damn mitsubishi parts prices. Someday I will get the ray tank I dream of....untill then....i wait.
