I recently got 2 motoro pups. They swim around anytime my lights are off, but as soon as I turn my lights on they hide under the sand. I had 2x10k bulbs 36" on my 48" 120g tank. Figuring my bulbs were to bright I switched one of the 10k bulbs to actinic to make it a little dimmer, they still hide whenever the lights are on. Any suggestions?

How long have you had them? It's best to leave the lights off for the first few days so they can adjust. I usually give my rays two weeks.

I've only had them for like 3 days now, I was completely unaware of that. Thanks a lot.

Would actinic bulbs have any effect on the colors of rays? I forgot to ask that in my first post...

just give them some time..... i would also drop to 6700k bulbs...

i think mine look more colorful and pretty when i use my 10k k's and blue actinics.

To be honest I am not sure whether the actinic lights will have an effect on their color. It is supposed to simulate the moon on a reef. Rays are not used to bright light of any sort so my advice would be to use a very weak light on your rays. Good luck with them and keep us posted! Would love to see some pics!

All I have is my cell right now... Here's a pic on the way home and 2 in the tank...
