Hi I'm more interested in peoples experiences that have mixed the two....obviously they co-exist in the wild, and plenty of people do discus and rays...but I'm looking at getting a young motoro, and I have two red tapajos pike, and two pairs of parachromis Loisellei. 3 severums. I have a 265 gallon tank, and zero aggression among the residents. Do you guys think a motoro would work? Good idea or bad? Would the fish mess with the ray?

I'm aware of care for rays, as I've kept them in the past, but never with these type of cichlids. What's you guys experience?

I have my rays with cichla, a Tapajos pike a geo and some catfish. They all seem to get along just fine, in fact the pike has learned to follow the rays around and he cleans up after the rays when they chew up their pellets.

That sounds kinda nice....I'm going to try it I think. I can get a 6-7" disc motoro for around 125-150$ worst case I can put up a divider anyone else with experience?

Yes- i keep rays with cichlids- My marble trio has lived with a trio of festae and a true parrot for years now- also had a fire pike and marm pike with them at different times with no issue with the rays.

Had a pair of 8-10 inch mmxregmotoro with a 16 inch xingu 1 pike. Worked great. Initially I was nervous about the pike screwing up the Rays but he really respected them. I'd be concerned about your parachromis though. I'd get rid of them if you're going that route. Also I'd get a motoro around 8+ inches if you can, smaller Rays can't handle stress as well often. Good luck if you try it. Tapajos I and Rays and Severums + geos is a really nice looking combo IMO

I might get rid of one of the pairs of loisellei...though they are so mellow its kind of hard to justify it. They are less aggressive to each other than the severums are. The severums chase each other every now and then.
