Rays and Plecos..

Im aware that rays and plecos normally are a bad combo, but is there any pleco species thats more suitable than others?

I got 4 XL L128 that I would love to keep with my motoro and retics, but I dont wanna take chances. From my experience the L128 is not an agressive pleco compared to many others.

If any of you guys have some kind of experience on this subject please share.

Excuse the pun but it really is "suck it and see" it is not the aggressive nature that you need to worry about but whether it gets the taste of the rays slime coat or not.
 
Got a 128 whit my 2 orby,s for about 5 months now, no problems yet.
But as Just Toby says,there is always a chance they will take a taste of the
slimecoat.
Just keep a close eye on them.
 
It depend about Pleco size.
First I had Glody Pleco, and he bite Rays very often. He was pretty big (10"). I sold them immediately.
Later, I decided to buy L27a (8") and he was OK for more than 6 months. Then Pleco bite couple times my Motoro during feeding time, I thought that he will like driftwood more than my rays ;)))).
In my opinion, if you buy a small one, yours rays should be OK, but this is always risk.

i had a ray and just the average black sorta spotted placo that was about 14" and the ray was about 7-8". at first they were fine together until i saw like an oval shaped wound on the back of my ray and i thought she may have scratched herself on some rocks so i took them all out. in the morning she had another wound almost identical to the first but smaller and not as deep so i knew it wasn't the rocks. i went to sleep. i found in the morning the ray had all its skin sucked off its back by the placo and it even had blood scabs in little droplets seeping through her pores and she didn't make it through the day :( and that is how i lost my first ray. so i agree about the fish getting a taste because once mine did she went for a feast, no skin off the rays back? it was quiet the opposite. so i will never combine the two again. let me see if i can find the picture of the ray in the morning and i will post it. but i hope this story helps
