so im getting a 150 ofr my aro and bass and im thinking about getting rid of my other fish and just having a 150 with a aro, ray, and lm bass

But may be a pleco... i dunno.

Do plecos attack rays since they dont move a lot

good or bad idea

i asked the same thing a while back when i was considering plecs and rays too. in the end, i skipped it cuz i was too afraid one of my plecs might get accidentely stung by the ray. im not too afraid about pleco agression towards rays although bigger specimens are deffo territorial and will chase a ray away. imo the risk is a bit too high but on the other hand: a lot of people seem to do it with succes. so imo its about the risk you wanna take and the personality of your plecs.
one more thing, you hear a lot about slime coat sucking. also fish depending imo. most of my plecs dont do it but maybe yours does...

i doubt stingrays actually just "sting" fish. its rare, i never even seen it happen. the reason people DONT do it is because plecos suck the slime coat off the stingray and can kill the stingray. i wouldn't try it.

Dont do it. Some people risk it, and have limited success with some species at certain sizes, but it is always an accident waiting to happen. So many people have lost rays because of it, and in my experience they dont go at all. IMO it isn't worth it.

Didn't know you kept rays Davo?

I've had sucess mixing some plecos with them, mainly common ones. Large L14, 25 & Panaques have always been far too aggressive & attacked rays so steer clear of them but plecos & rays can be mixed :)

ive got my motoro and retic in with a large pleco and it hasnt touched them. it could also be because most of the time there packing around black sand on there backs. :nilly:

not rays for me unfortunately, although i sure would love some. My experience was with fw soles... great big flat surface area, same principle. There's a thread about it somewhere if you search it. The sole had been with pleco for just over a week or two i think. Particular species was G. gibbiceps.

I would not mix plecos and rays. Some plecos like to suck from the body of the rays. My experience was that the rays cannot rest because the pleco keeps on chasing and sucking from its body so I separated them.
