My 9 month old motoro has just shed its first barb.

Had had two for ages and now one has gone and in its place are tiny lil flappy bit of skin.

Question is, I can't see it and have sand substrate. Will it have sunk into substrate, and how am I to find it to get out to stop it burying itself in a fish at a later date?!!

They sink so yes it's probably somewhere in the sand. I've found some months after they were shed. Ideally it would be best if you could find it so it doesn't accidentally hurt a Ray

Just run a net through the sand to locate it

This, should be pretty easy to dig around and find it to eliminate any risks at all.

Yupp Thanks for suggestion I just spend last half hour with net and got it. Is tiny, will be interesting to see how they grow as rays are.
