Hi All,

Recently I saw somebodys tank and liked the idea of tiling the bottom of the tank... I have a Motoro Ray in mine who does like to bury himself int he sand at the moment. if I was to replace this with slate tiles as in the photo below then would it a) damage him in anyway b) piss him off?

Hi iv seen rays on tiles befor don't think it bothers them realy my mate has got his on bear glass he said it takes them a couple of days to relise how to slow down befor they hit end of the tank as normaly they use there feet to slow down they slam them in sand. But they do get use to it. Hope this is helpfull just make shire u get true slate as most tiles have lime and thats a deffo no go unless u can seal with clear pond sealer you can get it in small tubs

Tiles are fine slate can be sharp though if broken. I have regular ceramic tiles in my tank but will be going to sand when I change tanks.

Mainly for looks and to give them something to blow and play in. My big girl can blow and eventually get one of the tiles up then from there gets more up. Rays get bored to

Rays do seem to enjoy sand. It keeps them occupied and let's them hide when they feel threatened. Maybe keep sand on one side of the tank??
