Hello all. I am looking at making a 9x5x3 pond for my rays. Due to money and not knowing how long until I move again I am planning on making it using a 1mm pond liner. Has anybody ever had any issues with rays in a pond with a liner? Would it be worth double lining it or is that to overkill? Any info is more than welcome
Many thanks,
Luke

First 3 words of 3rd sentence..... IF money is an issue due yourself a favor and wait till the time is right. I was told many years ago that rays could be kept on a budget, which they can, but that budget is never as low as we'd all like it to be.

Most would also agree that ponds without windows are a horrible idea. Impossible to gauge health. I was so mad at mine I enjoyed watching it burn. Lost a rediculous amount of stuff in the thing cause once you realize somethings wrong you're wayyyyy too late to fix.

Agree with this. I have my rays in a temperary poll right now due to the bottom of my tank cracked during an transport. But getting my new 3200L tank in a couple of weeks. Plywoodbuild with an liner and a viewingwindow.

Okay, maybe I should add I already own 5 rays and have just moved property. My parents are currently looking after them. The reason I was planning on going this method as there is a chance I will be moving again in a year's time so don't want anything too permanent. And I feel adding a window makes it a far bigger job. With just a liner I can dismantle and move it with realitice ease. I have an outbuilding at the property I have just moved into so space isn't an issue but access is. Wouldnt be be able to get a large tank round the house to the outbuilding. So narrowed my options down to this.

Well put an window in isnt that much of a problem if you need to dismantle the pond/tank. You build it in sections so you have floor and four sides that are movable.

Okay, does anybody have experience themselves or links to someone who put a wundow in a pond built with a liner?
