*Razorback Musk turtle sand vs gravel?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I use sand with my Common Musks, since they walk on the bottom a lot rather than swimming, however I'd advise against gravel as that might get stuck in their digestive tract if they accidentally eat it.

I much prefer sand for my musk turtle. He enjoys kicking it up and sifting through it, and it'll do fine with the FX5, just keep the filter intake at least 4" above the sand.

yes/yes, no problem

How do you guys clean your sand? when i do routine cleanings wont the siphon pick up the sand also? i wanna use my python syphon into sink

I siphon it out the door- no buckets needed- but there is never that much sand. Use a nice tall siphon tube and the sand should fall back to the bottom by the time the gunk reaches the top.
