What's up everyone? I am currently setting up my tank to keep Red Bellies that I plan to order from aquascapeonline.com since you all had so much good feedback, and I was wondering about how I was going to address the issue of algae. I currently have a 6" common pleco and a 4" chinese algae eater, but I think it might be a good idea to find them a safer home before introducing my new monsters. So I was thinking of getting a few olive snails to keep tank cleaned up. What experinces do you have with snails and piranah's? Will they destroy a planted tank? Will piranha let them live or make a snack of them? Do they crawl out of the tank? I'd hate to hear my wife yelling again like she did the the time my Palamas bichir jumped out of the tank. Thanks :headbang2

Nerite snails will crawl out of the tank. It's in their nature to do that. I keep all my snail tanks locked as I've noticed my nerites and other snails like to escape the tanks. Stick with Clithon corona. They have spines that will protect them from predation. I doubt your piranhas will eat them though.

I think its hit or miss based on your piranha's personality. Only one of my reds would eat snails, and he would only eat some snails. I had a snail live with my shoal for 6+ months with no problems, and others that would get eaten within 2 days.
