hey all, I have a spare 65gallon(36''x18''x24''). I want to get myself a RBP. can I get away with more than one in this tank?

Three should be fine... You may have to do a lot of water changes but other then that it should work out :)

I kept 6 in a over filtered 75 for like a year before I sold them. I would of had to upgrade eventually but I think I could of gotten away with it for a while.

just keep in mind that one RBP can get up to 12." They should last a long time. i would go with three or four, but be prepared to sell the fish or upgrade at some point in the future if necessary.

OR

a 65 would make a totally ill tank for a good sized serrasalmus. You could keep anything but a rhom or mannie in there for life. You could keep either in there for years because they grow slowly. I wouldn't do a mannie personally. From what I understand they need big tanks to grow and be healthy. They're sensitive to stress.

This

go with a serrasalmus species of some sort you couldn't realisticaly fit more than 2 RBP's in that tank (and 2 shouldn't be housed together due to agression issues) get a sanchezi or spilo of some sort and you won't be disapointed

I've got 6 RBP right now in a 55, had them for 14 months and they are 5-6 inches now. I just filled a 180 up, that i bought last week. This will be there new home, along with 3 , 15" plecos, and 2 other RB, that are of same size, that a friend has. They need alot of room. Very spooky fish. I wiill post pics, this weekend when I make the move.
