Well I was looking at my RBP's to see if anything was going on when i noticed a little white spot hanging from just behind his gill.. now this sounds alot like ick and could very well be.

Now i have seen this before but it never got any worse i also have another RBP in the tank and he has no specs at all.
I turned the water up to around 80F.

One of the symptoms is loss of appetite which i would like to clearify since my RBP will grab shrimp but won't eat and i just wanted to know if that would sound any alarms to anyone else? and further more when we talk about adding salt water to help kill off the ick will i need to do that on a daily basis or just at the start and keep the heat up?

I did read the sticky on this but these few items were not clear to me.. sorry if i misunderstood but this is my first ick issue.. Thanks in advance to those who help any feedback is welcome.

if u do add the salt, it is not on a daily basis, you only add it once - but you mix in the salt in a bucket of aquarium water, add it extremely slowly (i added a cup every hour when i was treating my pictus catfish) just to make sure your fish does not go into shock. but i don't think you should add the salt yet, try putting the temp up and see what happens over the next two days. but if the spots do not clear over the next two days then i def think you shouldn't leave it for longer than that, your best bet would be to treat with esha whitespot and add the salt. on another note, you said you were not sure if it's whitespot, can you post a pic of the area? is the spot raised? does it appear to have a thread like structure attached to it?

it looks like a mole on a human but white.. it hangs on enough to see it giggle when he moves around alot. To post a picture would be hard since it's small and the P is very skittish.

i had the exact same problem on my rbp it was a white spot sorta hanging off the fin i watched him for 2 days and he devloped one on his bottom fina swell i treated the water with nox-ich and it went away after the first day but i treated the tank for 3 days with a %50 water change each day and he is back to normal self.

that doesn't sound like whitespot...not sure what it is. hopefully someone can tell u what to do - the spots don't move about in whitespot, it doesn't move when the fish moves.

Thanks guys.. He's been eating and was super skittish this morning when the tank light went on but as for flashing and other odd stuff he is fine. Looks good to me but i'm gonna keep on eye on him and his cling-on.
