2 rbp's would be very skittish anyway, as they are shoaling fish, but 1 lone one would probly be even worse.
a pair would be fine i think, u could maybe push 3 with enough filtration. piranhas arnt very 'active' fish and arnt usually territorial, so dont need as much room as say a cichlid of the same size.

feeder fish, shrimp, frozen fish, pellets and flake if u can (good for vitamins) chicken, beef, whatever...lol
depends on size of piranha. make sure you quarantine those goldfish first as they are usually kept in cramped bad conditions so may make your p's sick.
i buy neons and danios for my rhom, as he is only just under 4" so they are enough for him, but they are a safer bet as they are usually kept in good conditions, betas are another good option
