so i was at las vegas for a trip for 3 days i day i come back my rbp jumped out of my tank and ants swarmed the piranhas body it was so sick it also shocked my rbps so i had to give it away. In Conclusion Don't Leave Your Tank Lid Open. Its the Devil

i think the norm is to keep a cover on just about anything 'cept goldfish and guppy tanks. On my 125g I custom made some thick plastic covers but left about a 1.5" gap on each side. after a H2O change one day left it close to the front making the gap in back over 2". I came home after work and found my then juvenile oscar on the floor and stiff as a board (no ants though). He had found that little gap and took the suicide jump.
