I have no experience with Gar, but that just sounds like a bad idea.

the baby gar will have its fins eaten and maybe even end up in the piranhas bellys.if iit were to live through with missing fins and grow a little,he will snack on the piranhas,
either way strict no no.

Cool. Thanks for the info guys.

i think the gar would eat the piranhas. Most fish will eat any other fish that'll fit in their mouth.

So far the RBPS dont fit in his mouth. But I had the decision they are not going to be together in a tank.

Being that the Gar is bigger and essentially grows bigger than they do it would probably have treat them as a nice snack.

I Did it, im doing it yes gar will eat the RBP. HOWEVER if you feed your gar live food, flood the tank with what ever your feeding them (lets not exceed filtration though) but so far i have 100% survival but i had to save two. As long as you maintain the feeder fish population you shouldn't have a prob. If you can avoid it I wouldn't suggest it. But I had unusual circumstances that kind of forced my hand, however to my surprise its working, I think my RBP are about the same size as yours. If your confused about flooding the tank with feeders, ill post a pic if you need one. Don't do this for long.

Can you post that pic? Did the circumstances come upon you so quickly that putting a divider up wasn't possible?
