So i've intentionally let algae grow heavily inside my planted tank with 9x baby Red bellied Piranhas for a more natural look.

Occasionally several of the Piranhas will graze on the algae covered rocks! Looks awesome.

But my question is, is this normal behaviour in Piranhas? Never thought they could be omnivores to this degree.

Edit: Oh and before you ask, yes they get plenty of food, they are far from starving :p

never had that much algae in my tank before so never seen that happened in my tank. maybe they just want some veggie in their diet? everyone can use a little fiber I guess :)
sometimes piranhas will eat fruits, seeds, plant matters tho. so it might be normal.
