how long will it take to get from about 3'' to around 6'' ? i feed them very well and offen... ( the little f**kers eat better than i do...) they are in a 25g FOR NOW...

They wil be growing about 1 inch a month even without ideal water parameters. with better conditions, they'll probably grow faster. do weekly water changes of at least 30% and feed them brine shrimp/ blood worms/ high quality pellet foods.

If you feed them beef heart, you can almost double that rate. Proteines is the key, but don't forget diversity...

i've been feeding them shrimp, cooked skinless chicken breast, raw frozen deer steak, feeders(for alittle excitment) and the pellets... there doing great so far... thanks for the info...

red meat is bad for a constant diet for p's, white meat is the best feed smelt, shrimp and so on

Well, if you read my post I did say "don't forget diversity"...

In my experience they go from the size of quarters to around 5-6" in around 6 months then they slow down, 9" or so in just over a year, then maybe an inch a year until they stop growing. I like a lot of variety in feeding, when I was in Oakland, Ca. their main staple was live smelt from the marina bait shop and eartworms from a local bait shop, they also got a bit of whatever was on hand.

Bigger the tank, the better their growth harmones respond. When the money is there, purchase a 100g+ and then your p's will show.
