Well tonight when I did my water change my RCK went crazy and started crashing all over the tank. He is usually very calm other then mysteriously starting to spin circles the other day and then this today. I put him into my 10 gal QT tank with some salt so hopefully he is ok. Any ideas why he would act like this? He is around 10 inches and in a 55 gal waiting for my new 150 to cycle..50% water changes weekly, fluval 404 as filtration...I'm clueless on this one! Every other fish in the tank is fine! He is housed with a Black aro, two dats, and a pleco.

I have had 2 other RCK do this only to die later. Check your water parameters. Are you using ANY chemicals after waterchanges? Like Prime?

Man I wish I could help more. I atributed my problems to prime because they always did this when I was trying to fight an ammonia spike. They were fine until I used the prime and then they did the same thing you are describing. I know that it sounds like my problem was the ammonia but I later found out that I was fighting ammonium which is harmless to fish. I was overdosing the prime to convert the ammonia and I really think thats what did it. I stopped using it and my currant RCK is 18" long. Just my observations.

After having him in a hospital tank for a few days he started acting weird again. He is still alive but barely. It really sucks to lose such a beautiful fish. I think it all might go back to a serious beating he took from my Jardini. It took about a month for him to heal and he hasn't been the same since.
